Free Book Friday: Something for Everyone!

Sometimes, I am amazed at what you can get for free.  It definitely helps to be in the right place at the right time.  I am never really that lucky person, but I have some friends who have scored so big in these instances.

So then welcome to Free Book Friday here at Complete Literature!   I plan to do them every Friday for as long as I can find great quality books for you out there.  This first week’s selections are amazing.  I am somehow trying to figure out what I can cross off my list so I have time to read all of these.

Teacher Talk, Books 1-4, Special Edition: A Collection of Magazine Articles for Teachers (Teacher Talk Book 5) Kindle Edition

About the Author

This is a collection of magazine articles for teachers from Marsha Marie Page, a teacher with an amazing story.  She lived in exile for 22 years in Pakistan, hiding from her abusive husband in America.  I can’t even imagine being so far from home and in an unfamiliar culture.

But yet she thrived in that world.  During that time she had a wonderful and peaceful life as a teacher.  She was also featured on a tv documentary and was a member of a human rights committee.

Later, she ended up in United Arab Emirates, where she got some pretty prestigious teaching certifications.  This allowed her to teach in colleges, private homes, and even royal palaces! She worked even more prestigious jobs than that, but I will let you read about those.

She continued teaching where her style of running websites with her students and promoting technology in her classrooms got her noticed.  And that is where she discovered her love for reading.

She was asked to write articles for several local magazines about her teaching experience and memoirs.  She had a very rich experience to share and her articles were very popular.

About the Book

This collection takes you on her teacher journey as she shares her amazing teacher experiences.  It also contains a bonus excerpt from her biography, detailing aspects of her exile.

As a side note, Marsha Marie now lives in Arizona and works with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.  The good that she has done her entire life did not end with her journey overseas.

It is a super easy read and perfect for when you only have a few minutes here and there.  Although you may have a hard time putting it down and will be saying “just one more” throughout the book.

And as for her biography, it is called Bangles:  My True Story of Escape, Adventure, and Forgiveness.

It is an amazing book and well worth reading.

Books for Younger Students

Avengers:  Heroes Welcome #1

About the Author

Brian Michael Bendis is an award winning comics creator and one of the most successful writers in the industry.  So to be able to get this book for free was a great opportunity.

He is currently working on writing all of the issues of the New Avenger.  Plus he is debuting two new books:  Mighty Avengers and Dark Avengers.

About the Book

This book targets kids aged 9-12.  I got it for my son and he loved it.  Of course, he is very much into Avengers right now, so it was an easy read for him.

This is written in comic book style so it has an element of entertainment to it.  But it also has a plot that teaches kids how to be compassionate and have the courage to make bad things right.

The book follows the story of Sam Alexander, who discovers that he has a super power and then becomes known as Nova. When he starts to struggle with life, he goes to the Avengers for some help.  They teach him the valuable lesson of how his actions affect others and how to make that a beneficial character trait.

Your kids will love that the story includes some of their favorite Avengers superheroes such as  Captain America, Thor, the Wasp, Luke Cage, She-Hulk and Iron Man!

I love that this is available for Free Book Friday, although I would have gladly paid money for this one for my son.

Books for Older Students

Fledgling:  The Shapeshifter Chronicles Book 1

About the Author

This is book one of the very popular series written by Natasha Brown.

Natasha Brown grew up sneaking books past bedtime and reading in the dark.  Isn’t that how all of us avid readers started out?  She grew up to become a USA Today bestseller.  Some of her best work to this day has been the Shapeshifter Chronicles.

About the Book

This is book one in the Shapeshifter Chronicles series, four books in all.  Here are all of them:

Fledgling follows the story of Ana Hughes.  She has a serious heart condition that holds her back in many ways.  When she moves to a new town, she sees this as a fresh start to be seen as a normal person.  and soon she meets Chase Morgan, a somewhat mysterious, brooding and very intriguing guy.  She soon learns he may very well also have something in his life that he is hiding.  And she is totally intrigued by his seeming healing abilities.  Is he too good to be true?

This book targets the young adult set and most teenagers who pick it up have a hard time putting it down.

If She Knew

About the Author

Blake Pierce is a USA Today bestselling author who has ELEVEN different award winning psychological thriller series out!  They are all in varying amounts of completion as he keeps adding to them.  He is known as a masterpiece mystery author.  And this book is no exception.

About the Book

This book follows the story of Kate Wise, a 55-year old retired FBI agent who moves away to get a fresh start after her husband is murdered.  A friend’s daughter is murdered, which drives her right back into her past life as an FBI agent.

Blake Pierce does a tremendous job of building up the psychological workings of all of the characters.  You actually feel as though you know exactly what they are thinking and can empathize with them easily.  You will feel as though you are fully immersed in their lives.  And there are plenty of twists that will keep you captivated until the end!

I generally don’t have time to read these types of books right now because life is chaotic.  But I found myself sneaking off to get some more pages in.  My kids caught me more than once and rolled their teenage eyes at me for shirking my work to get to the end of this book.  It was totally worth it and inspired me to start scheduling more book time into my hectic schedule.  Self care, right?

Conclusion

So this completes this week’s Free Book Friday!

I hope that you find something here that you like!  Check them out and then tell me what you think!
