Welcome to Free Book Friday 2! Last week I found some pretty amazing free books that people took advantage of and enjoyed. This week’s selections are just as good if not better!
Just in case you missed last week’s Free Book Friday, here it is.
Free Book Friday 2 includes several different genres so that everybody can find a great read for the weekend. Here are the genres I have picked out in keeping with the subject of Complete Literature’s goals as a website:
- Books for Teachers
- Books for Younger Students
- Books for Older Students
- Fun Books for Teachers
Just let me know if there is a genre you would like to see added!
Just click on the books or titles to get to the Amazon links. Make sure that you click on the Kindle version so you don’t end up paying the physical book price.
Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! You can download the free Kindle app on just about any device, mobile or desktop.
Also, one final note: while the title of these articles are Free Book Friday, it is only because I introduce them on Fridays. The books will be free for as long as the posts are available.

Books for Teachers
The 1% Journal: 366 Challenges for Teachers and Coaches to Increase Their Impact
About the Book
This excellent book by Jon Barth emphasizes the fact that we cannot do our best job as teachers unless we are taking the best care of ourselves and being the best person we can be of our own accord.
I love how this book is divided into short challenges for every day of the year, including leap year. It gives us the perfect chance to self reflect daily, and then act on it to make us better people. And if we are personally better people, that makes us better people for our students and athletes.
Jon Barth believes that spending time focusing on our past can help us make a better future. So many of the days are spent in self reflecting things that have happened in our past that can help us be better people in the future.
A Focus on Positivity
The book is based on 12 principles of success. They are as follows:
- Have a Vision (inside) and Pursue Your Dreams (outside)
- Know Your Integrity (inside and Live by Principles (outside)
- Seek Excellence (inside) and Grow Character Skills (outside)
- Rise Above (inside) and Overcome Obstacles (outside)
- Be a Lighthouse (inside) and Lead by Serving (outside)
- Seek Peace and Fulfillment (inside) and Enjoy the Journey (outside)
Each day you will focus on one of these truths and then find ways to live it out.
The idea behind this is that you will read the challenge every morning so that you will have the remainder of the day to perform the action items.
If you do this book for any length of time, it would be impossible to not come out of it a changed person. And the best part of this book lies in the fact that it is such a short reading and takes just a little bit of time but sets the tone for the rest of your day in a most wonderful way.
About the Author

About the Author
Dr. Shh is an author from Amsterdam. He has been writing and getting published since he was 8 years old. Those works were in the form of silly poems and jokes.
He has always had a great knack for taking regular aspects of life and making them funny for friends and family. And in his books, he does not disappoint. His gift for appealing to kids’ humor in a healthy way has translated well to his books. Kids have been loving his work for a long time.
Books for Older Students
I was really surprised to see this book in the free Amazon Kindle book list because it has so many really good ratings. This is the first book in a five-part series.
About the Book
This book follows a 16-year-old foster girl named Mattie, who sees ghosts since a traumatic event happened to her when she was 5 years old.
Then one day she sees the ghost of her foster sister, Sally, who nobody even knows is no longer alive. They think she is just a runaway foster child.
So now Mattie takes on the task of trying to find out what happened to Sally and who did it to her.
Mattie enlists the help of a young officer named Dan for the sake of effectively figuring out this mystery. And through this process she learns the positive value of being able to trust others.
Soon after Mattie and Dan start working together, they realize they may be dealing with a serial killer. And now they must work against the clock to find this killer before he gets them.
This book does a great job of plot twists and buildup of suspense. And for that reason, it has great ratings, especially among the young adult set.
About the Author
The author, Apryl Baker, is a USA Today bestselling author. She grew up loving and hating scary movies at the same time. She would watch intensely and get incredibly scared, but couldn’t bring herself to look away.
She loved reading and writing and over time realized that her passion for writing was pretty much exclusively in the mystery and paranormal realm. And so this is where all of her writing takes place now, and why she has become an award-winning writer in this genre.

Finding Cinderella: A Novella
Thanks to my friend Krysten for letting me know that there were actually Colleen Hoover books that are available for free!
This one is a novella, so it is kind of perfect even for us people that no longer have the ability to sit down and read a novel for hours on end. (I know that someday I will get back to that stage of life again though!)
Finding Cinderella is kind of a special book because it was written specially for the purpose of Colleen thanking her loyal audience. Therefore, it was released as a free book with no intention of a paperback version.
But Colleen’s loyal fans wanted it in a paperback version as well. So not only did Colleen deliver on this request, she also added special features to the paperback version, including a new epilogue and Colleen’s personal Cinderella story.
About the Book
In Finding Cinderella, we find 18-year-old Daniel, who randomly runs into a beautiful girl. They have a very odd one-hour-long whirlwind romance in which they profess their love for one another. And then just like Cinderella, she flits away. And then Daniel is left to try to figure out what happened and how to get it back permanently.
A year passes, where Daniel comes off of a bad relationship. And then he meets Six, a very intriguing girl with a very strange name. And now he starts to realize that fairy tales don’t really exist, and that meeting the wrong girl can be very dangerous.
About the Author
Colleen Hoover is a very well-known and popular author. She is a New York Times bestselling author of 11 novels and 5 novellas. She is also the recipient of the Goodreads Choice Award. One of her books, Confess, was transformed into a 7-part online series. You can access that here.
One other notable thing I would like to mention is that Colleen started a bookstore and monthly book subscription service called The Bookworm Box. The subscription service features signed copies of books that are donated by the authors. So cool!
Conclusion
